Each June SBANT sponsors a 6-day residential camp at Camp John Marc for children with Spina Bifida ages 9 to 16. Scottish Rite for Children SB Clinic organizes and supervises the medical care of our campers with the many Nurses and Therapists that are recruited from many local hospitals and clinics. We accept between 90 and 100 children, who stay in air-conditioned cabins with trained volunteer cabin counselors. Three counselors are assigned to 6 or7 children in each cabin. The campgrounds have been designed to be completely accessible, and itis a state-of-the-art therapeutic camping facility, with a specially trained staff. Days at camp are filled with swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, arts and crafts, photography, dance, singing, sports and games and other fun activities. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to allow their child with SB to experience greater independence, and to meet other kids facing the same challenges.
