Camp TLC Directors

Julie Carter

Camp TLC Director

Hello! I am Julie and I am one of the camp directors for Camp TLC and immediate past chair of Spina Bifida Association of North Texas.
I began my Camp TLC Adventure in 1999 when I started raising money for Camp Through the SBANT.
I then started volunteering in 2003 as a counselor and eventually started assisting the camp director.
I love Camp! My favorite part about camp is the friends I have made there like my team mate Erik. That’s right we were counselors together and now we get to plan Camp TLC every year!
We never planned to be Camp directors but here we are enjoying every minute of it. There is room for you on our Team if you love camp and love to work hard!
I love the kids, working with the volunteers and partnering with all the hospitals and counselors and staff.
When I am not doing Camp TLC stuff I enjoy traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
I especially like being a wife and mom.
I am proud that my husband Jeff, My two sons (Jeffrey and Jared) and my sweet daughter-in-law (Sami) help me make camp the best it can be.
Additionally I have had many friends, nephews, and nieces join in the fun. Camp is contagious!
My favorite role is being Gju and playing with my Grandson, Marty and my Granddaughter, Ollie Lu.
I’ll see you in June!

Erik Meintser

Camp TLC Director

Hello! I am Erik and I am a Camp director.

I have been involved with Camp TLC for over 17 years. I went with my son (who was a counselor) to a training session and realized that I wanted to be involved. I started out as a counselor and fell in love with the camp, the volunteers and the campers. I moved from counselor to head counselor to now an assistant director. I also created the virtual camp (Camp Everywhere) which was recognized by the National Spina Bifida Association.

We start working on camp in January and all the hard work pays off when we see the buses with campers arrive. It is the highlight of my year.

When I am not working on camp, I am enjoying my family – my wife (Michelle), my kids (Bianca, Amanda and Nicholaas) and my 4 grandkids (Tristan, Haven, Milan and Memphis). I am know as Cookie by my grandkids and other family and friends..

I am truly thankful to them for giving me the chance to participate in camp each year. I am truly blessed.

I can’t wait for Camp and seeing everyone.
